Empowering Girls through sport: *Rakkleh* Initiative for Women and Empowermen through Football

As part of the Womens Empowerment axis, Karak Castle Center for Consultations and Training, in collaboration with the Community Revitalization Foundation and funded by ONSIDE, is implementing Rakkleh initiative, which aims to teach girls aged 16 to 30 football skills. This initiative, the first of its kind in southern Jordan, focuses on enhancing sports awareness in Karak, specifically for girls. The initiative seeks to builda community that values physical activity and encourages girls participation in football. The initiative also includes the Football for Sustainable Development project, which highlights the transformative role of sports as a means to achieve sustainable development in the southern provinces, especially in Karak. It aims to challenge the prevailing notion that football is exclusively for men while emphasizing the importance of sports for girls in the region. The activities include training a team of 20 girls, who will, in turn, train 100 girls aged 14 to 18 across various schools in coordination with the Ministry of Education. Additionally, the initiative features a broad awareness campaign that includes street banners, radio interviews, and television appearances on Roya and Al Mamlaka channels to showcase the projects impact on empowering girls and promoting sustainable development. This campaign aims to foster positive change, promote gender equality, and empower girls in Karak for a more inclusive and sustainable future.
