Launch of the Report "Monitoring Violence Against Women in the Jordanian Elections – Parliamentary Elections 2024"
Under the Patronage of H.E. Abdul Monem Al-Oudat, Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs, the Karak Castle Center for Consultations and Training, in collaboration with the Canadian Fund for Local Initiatives, launched the report titled “Monitoring Violence Against Women in the Jordanian Elections – Parliamentary Elections 2024.”
In a speech delivered by Dr. Ali Al-Khawaldeh, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Political and Parliamentary Affairs, on behalf of the Minister, he emphasized the rejection of all forms of electoral violence. He stressed the need to combat societal violence in all its forms, especially against women, and called for increased community awareness through initiatives such as those led by the Karak Castle Center.
Dr. Abeer Dababneh, Member of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Election Commission, highlighted the importance of empowering women politically and economically. She stated that empowering women is not merely a slogan but an investment in half of society to build a more inclusive and equitable future.
Lawyer Israa Al-Mahadeen, Director of the Karak Castle Center for Consultations and Training, presented the report, which addressed various forms of violence against women, including physical, psychological, verbal, economic, and electronic violence. She also shed light on the negative impact of these practices on women’s political participation.
The report aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of this phenomenon, analyze its causes, and offer practical recommendations to reduce it. It calls for enhancing women’s participation in political life and ensuring a safe and equitable electoral environment.
